The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has named Mr. Jimoh Ibrahim as the ‘authentic’ candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party for the November 26 governorship election in Ondo State.
The electoral commission also named Mr. Alabi Ebenezer Omotayo as his running mate.
The decision was in clear obedience to a ruling by a Federal High Court in Abuja which ordered that Mr. Ibrahim be used to replace Eyitayo Jegede.
The decision is coming against the backdrop of another court ruling on Thursday by an Akure High Court which ordered that Mr. Jegede still be retained as the candidate of the party.
Mr. Jegede emerged the candidate in a primary conducted by the Ahmed Makarfi faction of the PDP, while Mr. Ibrahim won the primary by the Ali Sheriff faction of the party.
Signed by the commission’s Secretary, Augusta Ogakwu, the list also showed that Rotimi Odunayo Akeredolu remains the candidate of the All Progressives Congress APC.
More details to be added as the story develops…
